Dining Room Team
Goal: This team’s objective is to make sure our diners feel welcome, that they understand our services and they have access to the services provided by other agencies. We want all our diners and volunteers to feel welcome.

*Stock the social services information resource center.

*Keep library clean (re-stock with books).
*Talk to and get to know all diners. Make sure their needs are met, sit and just listen to one person a day.

*Once a week: copy job ads and give job ads folder to the Concierge Desk.
Volunteer Team Leader:
*Make sure Volunteer Boards are stocked with name tags, pen and hair bands.
*Make sure all volunteers are signed in, have an apron and name tag.
*Check with Dining Room staff where volunteers are needed most. Assign tasks (our long-term volunteers always get to work in the kitchen and work the serving line).
*Court Community Services Volunteers need to see Cris Jones before they start volunteering. Inform them of when the next orientation meeting will take place. ALL NEW VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE THE ORIENTATION PRIOR TO GETTING STARTED.
*Use a highlighter to highlight the schedule of every volunteer who worked a scheduled shift, write a star next to the name of volunteers who worked an unscheduled shift.
*Remind volunteers to take a break and thank them for helping (you cannot thank volunteers too much).
*Let Cris Jones know if any of the regular volunteers are in the hospital or just had a birthday so she can send a card.
*At the end of each day, round-up volunteers and have a debriefing. Talk about what everyone has accomplished. Let the volunteers know how many people were served today (we count the trays, so check with kitchen staff). Ask if anyone learned anything or would like to share how they felt. Make sure you thank volunteers as many times as you can (you can never thank a volunteer too much).
*Write a short note to Cris Jones with any info.
