Volunteering for the Empowerment Group
Anyone wishing to volunteer with us is required to attend our orientation on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Dining Room. If the first Monday falls on a holiday, orientation will be the second Monday of that month.
Empowerment Group:
Our goal is to identify people who are using our services who we feel are ready to change their lives in a positive way. We encourage our diners to volunteer and we employ our homeless neighbors.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society empowers our low-income neighbors to share their voices in our community. A group of 20 of our diners are part of a workshop on transportation hosted by the community organization Grassroots. We are also actively working on voter registration for our diners.
As a volunteer of the empowerment group, it is your goal to work with just one diner with whom you have connected. Your job is to discover what gifts the diner has to contribute to the community and to make a new friend.
Help us change the world by helping one person at a time.
